This workshop will address the “Gut-Brain Connection”, it’s relevance in psychotherapy, and the identification of bio-markers of metabolic issues through Brain Mapping. The Integrative Medicine community has begun to rely heavily on QEEG-Brain Mapping Neurofeedback in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADD, and it is critical for counselors to understand the impact of metabolic issues on the psychotherapeutic process.

Dr. Soutar will demonstrate the effectiveness of neurofeedback on a wide range of issues including; addiction, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression, healing trauma, PTSD, post concussive syndrome, memory and cognitive decline. He integrates the use of neurofeedback in counseling and psychotherapy to facilitate rapid change,  positive interpersonal relationships, manage stress, overcome emotional resistance, restore sleep, and the healing of abuse and emotional trauma.

Author, Lecturer, Psychotherapist, and Neuroscientist, Dr. Soutar is pioneer in the field of neurofeedback, and has published three books on the topic of neurofeedback including his most recent book, “The Automatic Self”. He is a frequent speaker at scientific meetings of the International Society for Neurofeedback Research and conducts workshops on neurofeedback at conferences and clinics in the U.S and Europe. As a neuroscientist he has developed a normative data base for Brain Mapping and Neurofeedback used in over one hundred and fifty clinics around the world, is highly regarded in the field of neuroscience, and is a past president of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.
As a former professor of psychology and sociology, he has had extensive experience in teaching and training at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. His approach to neurofeedback as a significant tool in psychotherapy and counseling has opened up the counseling profession to the importance of the neuroscience in overcoming major stumbling blocks in counseling.
